Our client a restaurant and coffee shop (cafe) that serve the best authentic Continental and Italian Food with a whole range of types to choose from at Nairobi, Lavington,  is urgently seeking to employ a Continental food chef with Italian food experience too, who is passionate and genuinely enjoy being creative designing menus and cooking food.

Job Summary

Responsible in managing the kitchen, preparing and cooking Continental cuisine, and some Italian Food, creating new menu items, and ensuring food quality and safety and maintain inventory of food and kitchen supplies.

Duties

1. To prepare a consistent, high quality food products and ensure courteous, professional, efficient and flexible service is provided to clients in order to meet established standard.
2. Responsible for menu planning, the implementation controls and management of stock to enable the kitchen to meet revenue goals.
3. Ensure proper food portion, arrangement and garnishing
4. Ensure that health and safety standards are upheld in the kitchen food preparation and service.
5. Responsible for establishing and maintaining high sanitation standards in the work station.
6. Implement all the food and beverage policies and procedures like monitoring and management of food waste.

Qualifications

1. Excellent proven experience and knowledge of Continental / Italian cuisine, cooking methods, and ingredients
2. Demonstrated expertise in menu planning, food preparation, and presentation
3. Ability to manage and maintain kitchen inventory of food and kitchen related items
4. Experience in ensuring food safety and quality and awareness of hygiene and sanitation regulations
5. Excellent time management, communication and leadership skills and ability to work under pressure
6. At least a diploma in culinary arts, or a related field is a plus

Compensation

The best candidate will be offered a guiding wage of Kes 45,000.00.
