Our client a women-run manufacturer of non-toxic cleaning products powered by Kenyan ingredients that was founded in 2017 to manufacture over 50 products to convert homes and businesses to the new clean, committed to fostering an inclusive, equitable and diverse workplace where all employees feel valued, respected, and empowered to contribute to their unique perspectives is seeking to employ an Assistant Facilities Engineer (Junior Maintenance Engineer) to work at Kikuyu, Kiambu.

Role Overview

The Facilities Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the facility through proactive maintenance, equipment support, data analysis, and project assistance.

Roles and Responsibilities

a. Maintenance:

  1. Plan and coordinate preventive maintenance activities across the company’s machinery.
  2. Execute repairs and improvements in the factory.
  3. Ensure consistency and reliability of utilities – power, solar power, water, filtered water, etc.

b. Equipment Support:

  1. Determine whether equipment and facility specifications meet the facility’s needs and standards.
  2. Inform interested parties of facility and utility specifications to support their decision-making.
  3. Key stakeholder in machinery purchases for capacity increase in the factory.

c. Contractor Oversight:

  1. Recommend and evaluate contractors for maintenance tasks.
  2. Oversee execution of contractor work, ensure quality and completion.

d. Project Assistance:

  1. Support facility upgrade or expansion projects with tasks like documentation and coordination.
  2. Assist in basic facility design or layout modifications.

e. Compliance Monitoring:

  1. Monitor compliance with health and safety standards.

f. Data Collection and Reporting:

  1. Gather data on facility performance and prepare basic reports.
  2. Help identify potential risks in facility operations and suggest mitigation measures.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or diploma in a relevant field such as Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Facilities Management
  • 1–3 years of experience in facility maintenance or engineering roles.
  • Familiarity with equipment maintenance, facility design, or operational optimization.
  • Knowledge of compliance standards, safety regulations, and building codes.
  • Analytical skills for assessing blueprints, reports, and operational data.
  • Budgeting skills to manage costs effectively.
  • Knowledge of utility systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical setups).
  • Leadership abilities for supervising staff and coordinating contractors.

Compensation

A working wage of Kes 40,000.00 will be offered to the best candidate
