Our client a fast-growing company in Kenya, providing payroll-backed credit (fintech) to employees through employers, SACCOs, and partner institutions with a focus of helping working Kenyans access their earnings and manage their finances more effectively is seeking to employ a Accountant / Financial Analyst  to join their Nairobi office, industrial area.

The job summary:

The Accountant / Financial Analyst will manage the day-to-day accounting tasks for the firm including bookkeeping, reconciliations, compliance, payroll, and tax and financial analysis (budgeting, forecasting, ROI analysis, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting & Compliance

  • Manage daily accounting operations in QuickBooks Online.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger entries, reconcile accounts, and prepare monthly financial statements.
  • Handle payroll processing and statutory deductions (PAYE, NHIF, NSSF) in-house.
  • Ensure timely filing of all tax returns and statutory reports with KRA.
  • Maintain proper documentation and audit-ready financial records.

2. Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis for management review.
  • Conduct ROI and profitability analysis for new and existing products.
  • Support investor reporting and Board presentations.
  • Prepare client-level financial statements, SACCO revenue share reports, and invoicing.
  • Track KPIs and provide actionable financial insights.
  • Generate and deliver detailed month-end accounting reports, including:
    • Profit & Loss (P&L) Statement
    • Balance Sheet
    • Income Statement
    • Payables Report
    • Receivables Report
    • Revenue Breakdown
    • Aging Accounts Report with history
    • Probability of Collection on Aging Accounts
    • Plan and recommendations for writing off bad debts
    • Growth Analysis based on income and outflow trends
    • Operating Expenses Report
    • Conduct regular growth and expense analysis to support management decisions
    • Provide actionable insights from financial reports to support

 3. Cross-Functional & Strategic Support

  • Collaborate with management to develop pricing models and improve profitability.
  • Support automation and efficiency initiatives, especially in financial data handling and reporting.
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis to support operational and strategic decisions.

Qualifications

  • CPA, ACCA, or BCom in Accounting/Finance
  • Must have completed level 2 of the CPA program with KASNEB
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in accounting and financial analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas, data modeling).
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online
  • Understanding of Kenyan tax laws, statutory deductions, and payroll processes.
  • Proven ability to prepare and interpret both company-level and client-level reports.

Compensation 

A guiding Salary of Ksh 50,000.00 will be offered to the best candidate with other work related costs.
